Serve Robotics

Gold Coast, meet Serve robots

Robot delivery from local restaurants, now on DoorDash.

What is a Serve delivery robot?

  • A small electric robot, about the size of a shopping trolley, that carries your order along the footpath from the restaurant to your door.
  • It drives itself using cameras and sensors, and a trained Serve supervisor monitors it remotely and can step in at any moment.
  • It shares the footpath with you, traveling at a walking pace and giving way to people, prams, and pets.

How it works

You can opt in to robot delivery when ordering on the DoorDash app.

  1. Open the DoorDash app

Whilst ordering takeaway, toggle on robot delivery.

  2. The Serve robot picks up your order

The restaurant employee places the order in the secure compartment and closes the lid.

  3. Meet it at the kerb or door

You get a notification when the robot arrives. Unlock the lid with a code from the DoorDash app. Enjoy your food!

Safe by design

Safety is designed into every Serve robot from the start. At about 100 kilograms and walking pace, a robot carries a small fraction of a car’s kinetic energy, which makes it a safer way to move food a few blocks. Helping local restaurants and the community

Serve operates autonomous delivery robots in eight major cities in the United States, making food delivery convenient, reliable and sustainable while supporting local businesses and residents.

  • Restaurants and merchants use Serve to help meet the demand for takeaway, helping them fulfill more orders and get orders to customers faster.
  • Robots take the short trips, the orders travelling a few blocks, so drivers keep the longer deliveries that pay more. Every robot also creates local jobs around it. Our Gold Coast fleet operates from a depot at Griffith University, and we’re hiring locally for operations and field support roles.
  • Short car trips are among the most polluting per kilometer. Every delivery a robot replaces means one fewer car on Gold Coast streets.
